My Friendly Planet Work Experience Programme 14+
My Friendly Planet WEX Programme provides exciting opportunities for individuals to develop skills in creative settings through hands-on participation in projects, workshops, classes, and events. No prior experience is required, as participants will receive guidance and support to understand their roles, making it a welcoming environment for all who wish to contribute and learn while having fun.
We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:
Freelance Assistant Technician: As an Assistant Technician in the My Friendly Planet WEX Programme, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a vibrant and safe creative environment by supporting the Lead Technician in organising and curating students’ artwork, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and materials are well-managed, and actively assisting participants in using them safely while engaging with them directly in a face-to-face capacity. No prior experience is necessary, as you will receive training to thrive in this role!
Freelance Assistant Art Leader: As an Assistant Art Leader, your primary role will be to support the Art Teacher in fostering a creative environment by helping participants design and create art. A passion for the arts and effective communication skills are essential, as you will engage with participants of all ages and backgrounds. Additionally, you’ll play a crucial part in maintaining a tidy, clean, and safe space for creativity, assisting in workshops, projects, events, and fostering a sense of community within the My Friendly Planet program.
In return for your commitment, you’ll receive equal value exchange hours in the studio, art classes and/or workshops, allowing you to immerse yourself in the creative process while developing valuable skills in a collaborative environment.

FESTIVAL MFP WEX following roles:
- Assistant workshop facilitator:This job is ideal for those who want to familiarise themselves with running creative workshops prior to and during the festival. This includes planning, preparing, running demonstrating, supporting participants with making and evaluation. Workshops prior to the festival include:
- Facilitating Festival workshops:
- LIFE Drawing with TBC
- Onsite Installations / Manning & facilitating Workshops:This job is ideal for the person who enjoys painting and securing props on site.
- This job also includes helping in constructing, deconstructing and manning the installations- Recycled Rhythm HUB and Live Art Workshops.
- My Friendly Planet Art & Design School promotion assistant – this could be job shared*:This job is ideal for those studying in Media. The role includes writing short articles of project’s workshops, prior to and during the festival– promoting My Friendly Planet Art & Design School. Interviewing participants, taking photos, uploading these on social media platforms and website.
Hours of programmes & Benefits = at least 12 hours for the entire weekend.
- 10/15 Hours– Can include assisting with workshops leading to the festival and during /Free entry to two festival days with mini-breaks – setting up/taking down – assisting with workshops and prop making.
- 20/25 hours – Can include assisting with workshops leading to the festival and during / free entry to three festival days with mini-breaks – setting up/taking down – assisting with workshops and prop making.
- 30/35 Hours – Can include assisting with workshops leading to the festival and during /free entry all festival days with mini-breaks – setting up /taking down– assisting with workshops and prop making.
- 40 Hours – Can include assisting with workshops leading to the festival/free entry to all festival days with mini-breaks – setting up/taking down – assisting with workshops and prop making.
- 50 hours + promotion assistant* – includes promoting all workshops leading to the festival and during /all festival days floating with mini-breaks – setting up/taking down.
